CA YIMBY prepared a coalition letter to the Bay Area Housing Methodology Committee. On May 14th (calendar event, agenda), this committee is considering what factors to prioritize when distributing housing allocations to cities and towns around the Bay Area Region.
Our coalition recommends the HMC adopt a Methodology that prioritizes new housing development in (1) High opportunity areas and (2) Areas with proximity to jobs.

CEQA deadlines 2

The CA Judicial Council responded positively to our first letter regarding Emergency Order No. 9. On May 15th, they will be considering amending this order to (1) Toll from April 6, 2020, until October 1, 2020, the statute of limitations and repose for civil causes of action that exceed 180 days; and (2) Toll from April 6, 2020, until June 15, 2020, the statutes of limitations and repose for civil causes of action that are 180 days or less.

We support this amendment, please sign our letter to show that you also support it!

CEQA deadlines 1

The California Judicial Council issued Emergency Order No. 9 on April 6, 2020 suspending statutes of limitations for many laws, including CEQA, until 90 days after the end of the Covid state of emergency. We wrote a letter asking for this to be amended. CEQA timelines should proceed normally.

Other permitting deadlines

The League of Cities asked the Governor to toll a number of deadlines in state law, including deadlines that govern the housing entitlement process. We wrote a letter opposing this. It must have worked because the Governor ignored the League’s request.
