Our Mission

California is suffering from a housing shortage of epic proportions, in part, because cities illegally impede the creation of new housing.

Our mission at YIMBY Law is:

  • to enforce existing state housing laws

  • to educate lawmakers and activists about state housing law, and

  • to facilitate community organizing for individual housing projects which are general plan compliant and which don’t displace existing renters.

Featured Lawsuit

We are excited to announce that we recently won our lawsuit against Simi Valley, clearly establishing that group housing is housing for the purpose of the Housing Accountability Act.

Volunteer

We’re looking for people to join our Housing Enforcement Action Team. Joining means you’ll help monitor local planning commissions and city council agendas and be notified of opportunities to testify in favor of housing.
